Vacation Bag

I’ve gone a little crazy with making bags lately. I made this hobo bag for my mom for her upcoming trip to the Virgin Islands. Can’t ya just see a towel, book and sunglasses peeking out of this bag?

Softball Memory Quilt

My husband loves coaching my daughter’s softball team every year. So, when his birthday rolled around this month I made him a quilt featuring the softball t-shirts he and my daughter have worn over the years. I made a simple square top with baseball themed fabric, cut the t-shirts and backed them with fusible interfacing and zigzag stitched them in place. Working with the t-shirt material was not the easiest of tasks and I’m not eager to run out and do another one of these, but my husband loved the gift and that is what really matters!

Blackberry Jam

Yesterday I canned some blackberry jam. It is easier than you think! I use Sure Jell fruit pectin. Follow the package directions carefully so your jam will set up nicely. Make no mistake - this isn't a low calorie food. This batch made up 8 large jelly jars and contained 5 1/4 Cups of sugar! I use the quick and easy freezer jam recipe. These cans will last 3 months in the refrigerator and 1 year in the freezer.

The package also contain recipes for apricot, blueberry, cherry, mango, raspberry-peach, strawberry and strawberry-blueberry. Yumm.

I usually reserve a jar for thumb print cookie filling for the holiday season.

Back to School!

Say it aint so! It’s August and that means ya got to think about it. So, I whipped this awesome ensemble for my 14 year old daughter including a drawstring back pack, change purse, pencil pouch and hairclip. She loves it so much that she said it almost makes her want to go back to school.
